George D. Eccard, Sr., 82, of Marbury, Maryland died on Monday, July 19, 2010.

Born in Mt. Lena, Maryland, he was the son of the late David C. Eccard and Olive M. (Fischer) Eccard.

George was a graduate of Boonsboro High School in 1946.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie A. Eccard; his two sons, George Eccard, Jr. and David Eccard; his daughter, Suzanne (Eccard) Bailey; his brother, Claude “Brother” W. Eccard; and his sister, Carol Ann Carter.  He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Marbury Baptist Church in Marbury, Maryland.  Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial in Waldorf, Maryland.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010  at the Williams Funeral Home, 4270 Hawthorne Road, Indian Head, Maryland, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marbury Baptist Church, 4670 Bicknell Road, Marbury, Maryland, 20658; or Hospice of Charles County, 105 La Grange Avenue, La Plata, Maryland, 20646.
