This is the passing of a grand, old, much-loved lady. Our Aunt Marie will always be remembered as a wonderful wife/mother/grandmother/great-grandmother/sister/aunt from when she and her family lived in Washington, D.C. and visited her Sister, Albertina's home on the Chesapeake Bay and also our visits with her and her husband, Ray, at Bay Indies in Venice, Florida. Marie was a fun-loving, full of life person who was always a gracious hostess to us and we remember many good times together. At the end of my Father's life, she provided much-needed and loving care to him after he moved to Bay Indies before his death. That was very much appreciated by the whole Dex family and no doubt a great comfort to my father. But this is the way she was.

I am the great neice of Aunt Marie - my paternal grandmother, Albertina, was her sister.
My clearest memories of Aunt Marie are from the time I flew to Florida for the funeral of my grandfather, Max Dex Sr. Aunt Marie (who looked like my grandmother) and my Uncle Jackie (my grandfather's brother who looked like my grandfather) met me at the airport and made quite an impression on me because they looked exactly like my grandparents who were both deceased! It took my breath away but was a warm reminder of my grandparents together!
Aunt Marie had such a wonderful sense of humor and told me and my cousin many family stories during that visit to Florida. She went through some family history that we didn't know and seemed to really enjoy answering all our questions. I do remember her laughter and smile!
My prayers and best wishes go out to the rest of Aunt Marie's family. May God bless you and give you peace and warm memories of her.
