Anna Mae (Souders) Leggett

August 24, 1924 ~ July 21, 2017 (age 92)

The Piano Brothers

Anna Mae Leggett , 92, of Boonsboro, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 4:05 p.m. surrounded by the love of her family and staff of Greenfield Assisted Living in Hagerstown. She left this world with two tears and a smile. On the day of her passing the Lord blessed her and the family by sending two doves and a male cardinal (her favorite bird) that spent hours outside her window. She passed in peace and comfort listening to her favorite hymns. I'll Fly Away was playing as she met the Lord. In March of 1982, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Leggett.

Born on August 24, 1924, in Smoketown (Mt. Lena), MD, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Florence (Brown) Souders.

Anna Mae attended the Mount Lena Elementary School. She attended Boonsboro Bible Church and was a member of the Willing Workers Class. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. She worked for 23 years at Sagners Clothing Company and six years at H.J. Hartz Clothing Company both located in Frederick, MD. After 15 years she retired from the Washington County Board of Education as a transportation assistant working with special needs children. After retiring she would still accept "going on the bus" when needed. The children knew her as Miss Anna and she loved them dearly. She often commented it was the best job she ever had. She enjoyed eating AC&T chicken wings, Rocky's Pizza and Hartle's Subs.

Anna Mae is survived by all six of her children. Daughters, Ruth A. (John) Shank of Smithsburg, Anna Lee (late Kenny) Herr and Sallie J. (Dennis) Dorsey all of Boonsboro, Pennie K.(Dave) Crabtree of Martinsburg, WV; and sons, Bobbie E. (Susie) Leggett of Keedysville, Richard A.
